Does the office charge me a fee to pay by card?

No. The association does not add anything to your payment. Clip, the company that processes card payments, charges the association a commission.

How much does a card payment cost the association?

Clip's standard rate is 3.6% per transaction, plus 16% IVA charged on that commission — roughly 4% in total. On a $1,862 MXN payment that is about $78 MXN. We are confirming our specific contracted rate against the bank deposits and will update this page.

I heard the association only receives 84%. Is that right?

No, and this one is worth clearing up. The 16% is IVA charged on Clip's commission, not on the money you send. Those are very different things. The association receives roughly 96% of a card payment, not 84%.

What was the 9% I saw on the payment screen?

That is a currency conversion charge, and it is charged to you, not to the association. If your card was issued outside Mexico, Clip offers to bill you in dollars at a rate about 9% worse than the real one — and that option arrives already selected. Choose “Pay in Mexican Pesos” instead and your own bank does the conversion at a better rate. The association receives the same amount either way.

Is there a cheaper way to pay?

Yes. A bank transfer by SPEI, or a transfer through Wise, costs the association nothing. Paying by card is the most convenient option and gives you an instant receipt, but it costs the association about 4%. If a transfer is easy for you, it genuinely helps.

Then why offer card payments at all?

Because most owners live outside Mexico and a card takes a minute. For years dues went unpaid simply because paying was inconvenient. The processing cost is worth it against dues that never arrive. But if a transfer works for you, that is better for the community.

How do I pay by transfer?

Contact Nancy at the HOA office for the account details, and send her the receipt so the payment is recorded against your casa.
