Heavy surf damages beach cameras, lamps and stairs

The tide has been running hard along the beachfront. Three of the beach cameras and several lamps were struck by water and burned out, and the stairs at two houses have come down.

The stretch between casas 45 and 50 took the worst of it, but the damage is not limited to it. One owner already has washouts opening under the walls.

**The cameras and lamps will not be replaced until February.** Higher tides are still coming. Putting new equipment in now means it gets destroyed again, and wet fixtures on a live circuit risk serious shorts rather than just a burned-out lamp. The office recommended waiting and the board agreed.

This is the same stretch of coast that has been failing since August: the beach access between casas 30 and 31 is still closed, and the retaining wall between 35 and 38 collapsed on August 27.

If you rent your house, tell your guests. If you see new damage anywhere along the beachfront, report it to the office.
